Itinerary
DAY 1
ARRIVAL AT MARRAKESH
Welcome to Marrakesh!
Full of colors and shades, smells and fragrances, charm, and seduction, Marrakesh has more than 1.000 years of stories to tell you. The best starting point, don’t you think? We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your first accommodation. In the afternoon, enjoy a little walk in the city, where you can see the beautiful El-Badi Palace, the historical walls of the city, the labyrinthic markets, or the sunset in Jemaa el-Fna square. Marrakesh has such great architecture, gardens, and exotic atmospheres to discover. Welcome!
DAY 2
MARRAKESH TO BOUMALNE
Time to discover the traditional Berber villages.
After breakfast, we’ll drive across the Western High Atlas through traditional Berber villages towards Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco (2.260 m). We’ll continue to the Aït-Ben-Haddou village, surrounded by palm trees, mountains, and rivers. Built ten centuries ago, it’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive at Ouarzazate in the afternoon, known as the gate of the Sahara and the Hollywood of Africa. This city is known for its architecture and is widely noted for its Amazigh or Berber customs.
DAY 3
TAGDILTE TO ALMOU NOUARG
Discovering amazing views!
After a car transfer to Tagdilte (1.660 m), it’s time to start our journey! Stroll through the massive Saghro towards the valleys of Saghro. Our track leads us along the river with a nice climb until Jbel Saghro, where we can enjoy a beautiful view over the Boulmane area and the massif of Mgoun. Then, a long descent takes us to the village of Almou n’Ouareg (2.300 m), a place where you can contact with Ait Atta tribes and experience their culture and how they live their daily lives.
DAY 4
ALMOU NOUARG TO IGLI
Climbing the Kouauch summit.
From here we will make our climb up to the summit of Jbel SARHO, named Kouauch, and standing at 2.600 m of altitude. We will relax for a bit at the top to bask in our accomplishment, take a few pictures, but most of all enjoy the infinite breathtaking scenery. As we descend from the summit, we’ll stop for lunch in Tassigdelt, some of the most beautiful rock formations in the area. Then we continue to the village of Igli at 1.700 m, in the region of Taroudannt, to spend the night camping near the nomadic people among almond orchards.
DAY 5
IGLI TO BAB N’AIL
Discovering some Berber villages!
One more day hiking up and down, discovering this fantastic combination between silence and magnitude. We continue our trek in an extraordinary mineral setting, probably one of the most beautiful scenery in the Saghro. Stop for a picnic lunch at the beautiful valley of Aqqa’n Oufourar and pass through some villages which invite us to stay. But we must continue towards the gorges until we reach our campsite at Bab n’Ali, a beautiful landscape of rocky peaks, whose rock towers rise over 60 m.
DAY 6
BAB N’AIL TO IFOURNA
Through the warm colors!
The warm colors of the desert have now become somehow familiar, and our day continues by visiting some remote locations. After breakfast, we’ll start the track from Bab N’ail and cross Tadaout – Ntiblah, a very characteristic site with its immense rocky peaks. This is a very picturesque area along a magnificent path with winds passing between the fairy chimneys and reaching the plateau. The views are endless, and the feeling is of absolute freedom. By the end of the day, we will arrive at the campsite, under the marvelous starry night.
DAY 7
IFOURNA TO IMI N OUAKKA
Overlooking the Berber daily life.
From Ifourna we will follow the river down the valley until we reach Irrezzoun N’ Imlas and Mtassit, where we will stop for a picnic lunch. The Berber communities are scattered in mountain villages, and some are less used to travelers, although the kids will welcome you with curiosity. One of the biggest features of these villages is the adobe houses and the men in full typical dresses. The day continues towards Asif N’ Irrezzounm, where you’ll see some farms, almond and fig orchards, and beautiful palm trees to give you some shade.
DAY 8
IMI N OUAKKA TO ZAGORA
The desert awaits!
There are few places on Earth like the incredible landscapes of the Sahara Desert. Today a transfer along the Draa Valley will show you the fortified Kasbahs, oasis, and the largest palm tree plantation in Morocco. In the afternoon, you’ll meet the camel caravan at Zagora Desert, ridding for about an hour to our Berber desert camp, nestled in the middle of nowhere. The dinner will be served while the local Berbers perform a drums show. Feel free to learn about the star’s constellation or just enjoy the silence of the desert.
DAY 9
ZAGORA TO MARRAKESH
It’s time to return to the fabulous Marrakesh.
But before that, wake up to the iconic sunrise over the never-ending sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. Undoubtedly, the most amazing sunrise ever! Early in the morning, after a peaceful sleep, the camp hosts will call you to watch the sunrise (if you wish). The warm colors that creep up from the horizon will make your day! After breakfast, meet your vehicle and depart to Marrakesh. It is a long journey with a stop for lunch and sightseeing on the way. This will be the last time you’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains.
DAY 10
DEPARTURE
This is it!
Depending on the time of your flight, you’ll still have time in the morning to visit the city, and maybe have your last drink of flavored tea or do some last-minute shopping in the big markets. Our guide will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to Marrakesh’s Airport, where we say our goodbyes, and we hope you had a wonderful time. It has been a great adventure, and we will love for you to come and discover more of Morocco’s Nature Trails.
