Itinerary
DAY 1
ARRIVAL AT MARRAKESH
Welcome to Marrakesh!
Our guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. Depending on your flight’s arrival time, there is a possibility of a first-day visit to the Souks – the famous markets close by. You can feel the city’s energy, the colors, and the smells are amazing. Just enjoy yourself exploring or take some time to rest for the days to come.
DAY 2
MARRAKESH TO OUARZAZATE
Ait Benhaddou village – a UNESCO famous site
After breakfast, we drive across the Western High Atlas through traditional Berber villages towards Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2.260 m), the highest road pass in Morocco. Then we continue until the Aït-Ben-Haddou village, a place built ten centuries ago, surrounded by an outstanding nature of palmer’s, mountains, and rivers. An incredible spot, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. In the afternoon, we arrive at Ouarzazate, also known as the gate of the Sahara and the Hollywood of Africa. This city is known for its architecture and is widely noted for its Amazign (or Berber) customs.
DAY 3
DADES VALLEY
The smell of roses is in the air!
Today we continue our ride and follow the route by Roses valley, the valley of Assif M’Goun river, tucked into the heart of Berber culture, between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert. The region is the biggest producer of rose oil and water in the whole country, which gives its name. Here happens the Roses Festival that celebrates the season’s rose harvest— a must-see! As soon as we arrive at the Boulmane Dades, we can walk for 2 or 3 hours by the valley and its famous Gorge.
DAY 4
ZAGORA
The desert awaits!
There are few places on Earth like the incredible landscapes of the Sahara Desert. Today, after passing by the famous Todra Gorge, a series of limestone river canyons carved by the rivers, we will arrive in the desert. In the afternoon, the amazing camel trekking takes place, as we meet our camel caravan at Zagora Desert, ridding for about an hour to our Berber desert camp nestled in the middle of nowhere. The dinner will be served, while the local Berbers entertain us with their drums. Feel free to learn about the stars and constellations or just enjoy the silence of the desert under the crystal clear skies as we spend the night under the stars.
DAY 5
RETURN TO MARRAKESH
A wonderful sunrise!
One of the most iconic Sahara Desert experiences is waking up to an incredible sunrise over the never-ending sand dunes. Early in the morning, after a peaceful sleep, our camp hosts will call us to watch the sunrise. The warm colors will crawl from the horizon, making your day! After breakfast, meet your vehicle and driver on the road. From here, we depart to Marrakesh. It is a long journey, with a stop for lunch and a lot of sightseeing on the way, and also the last time you’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains.
It’s possible to book a flight from Zagora to Marrakesh to avoid the drive, depending on availability.
DAY 6
DEPARTURE
This is it! It went by so fast.
Depending on your flight, you may still have time in the morning to visit the city, and have your last drink of flavored tea or do some last-minute shopping in the big markets. Our guide will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to Marrakesh Airport, where we say our goodbyes, and we hope you had a wonderful time.
